Bandits have amputated the hands of a resident identified as Samaila Muhammad in Zamfara State.
The victim was attacked after his house was robbed in Walo community in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of the state.
The victim’s brother, Abdullahi Mohammed, who was also injured in the attack, narrated how both his brother’s hands were cut off.
“My brother Samaila and I are currently in hospital because I also have a broken arm and leg.
It was around 11.30pm when the armed criminals struck. They entered our house and started searching where we had put our animals. We heard noise, took our torches and left our rooms to find out what was going on. I saw one of the armed men trying to take control of our chickens and I shone my torch on him.
He fired a shot in my direction, although the bullet did not hit me. I quickly moved away from where I was standing. They started parking chickens and when my brother challenged them, one of them took out a machete and chopped off one of his hands, and before he could try to escape the attack, the gunman chopped off the other hand as well.
“Our community has suffered a number of deadly attacks in the past and we have suffered many indignities, including the rape of women. We are currently receiving treatment and are doing better after spending a few days in the medical facility,” he added.
