2023: Zack Orji and his wife are politically divided: She supports Peter Obi

Actress Ngozi Orji, wife of veteran Nollywood actor Zack Orji, has declared her support for Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, ahead of the 2023 general elections.

This development comes just hours after her husband endorsed Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), and his running mate Kashim Shettima.

Ngozi endorsed Obi in an Instagram post on Sunday after the presidential candidate of the Workers’ Party visited the Revival Church Assembly led by Apostle Anselm Madubuko in Ogba, Lagos.

The actress posted a video and referred to herself as “Obidient,” a title associated with supporters of the Workers’ Party candidate.

Ngozi shared a video and photos of Peter Obi during the service, writing, “It was a great time today. The moment when our Apostle General Anselm Madubuko H.E. introduced Sir Peter Obi. What a great way to close the AZUSA 20 conference. God bless you sir for coming. We are OBIdient. We’re moving.”

Meanwhile, Zack Orji had released a campaign video in which the actor said he believed Tinubu would transform the Nigerian economy.

The movie star said Tinubu led an all-inclusive government during his time as governor of Lagos State.

Zack Orji, who is vice president of Ambassadors of Voice of Change, and his wife Ngozi have three children together.

It will be recalled that Zack Orji’s support for Tinubu and Shettima was met with mixed reactions.

The actor came under fire after posting a viral video in which he referred to Tinubu as a supreme crusader and a man who stands for justice, fairness and national cohesion.

Zack Orji had called on well-meaning Nigerians to join him in supporting Tinubu in his election as Nigeria’s next president.

He said, “My support for Asiwaju Tinubu is personal. I have lived in Lagos for over 40 years of my life. I have always known this man as a leading fighter for the democratic consolidation of our country, Nigeria.

“I have always known him (Tinubu) as a man who stands for justice, fairness and national cohesion.

“In his time as governor of Lagos State, he led an all-inclusive government that included people of different ethnic backgrounds as decision makers in the executive council to run the affairs of the state,” he said.

The actor said, “People who were from different ethnic groups were given the opportunity to participate in decision making in Lagos State. I know with great certainty that he will do the same at the national level.

“Even though we have different tribes and languages, we are fraternal. I know that if he (Tinubu) becomes president of this country, he will turn the fortunes of the country,” he added.
