APC candidate for A’Ibom canvasses support of voters
The All Progressives Congress candidate in Akwa Ibom State for Eket/ Onna/ Esit Eket/ Ibeno constituency, Hon Eseme Eyiboh, has urged the electorate to judge him based on his ability and antecedents to ensure the required representation in the constituency.
The former Speaker of the House of Representatives urged the electorate to disregard party politics, religion and prejudice when choosing their representatives in the state.
Eyiboh stated this on Sunday at the Ekid Civic Centre during his consultative courtesy visit to the Ekid People’s Union.
He cited cooperation in the full reactivation of Akwa Palms Industry Ltd in Esit Eket, reactivation of Qua River Hotel, intervening in the deplorable state of electricity supply and the absence of financial institutions in Esit Eket as some of his plans for the people.
He also promised to advocate for the inclusion of Ekid nation in the state’s socio-economic development policies if given the opportunity to represent them in the green chambers.
The former chairman of the Cross River Basin Development Authority recalled his past in parliament, saying he was “exposed, competent and better positioned to represent them strategically,” adding that with his established contacts, he would leverage on his years of innovative involvement in socio-democratic practices.
He said, “As director of Akwa Palm and with a mandate to plant at least 6,000 hectares of oil palm seedlings.
“With my technical experience and knowledge of the global oil palm business as well as my local and international contacts, I can work with any governor in the state as well as bilateral and multilateral agencies to revive this industry. I am grateful to Governor Udom Emmanuel for trying to revive Akwa Palm Industry Ltd”.
In his response, the General President of the Ekid People’s Union, Dr Samuel Udonsak, thanked Mr Eyiboh for recognising the union and coming to officially consult them on his plan.
Samuel Udonsak confirmed the concerns expressed by Hon. Eyiboh and stated that while the EPU would not endorse anyone, Ekid Union members were free to decide who they would vote for based on their beliefs.
