The leadership of the Indigenous People of Biafra has raised the alarm over alleged claims by some individuals that they are authorized to collect funds for their security service, the Eastern Security Network.
At the same time, the group warned that Igbos should be warned against possible attack by suspected criminals posing as Fulani herdsmen in the South-East geo-political zone.
The secessionist group said this in a statement signed by its media and public relations director, Emma Powerful, on Tuesday.
The statement said, “We, the global family and movement of IPOB, under the command and leadership of our great leader, Mazi Kanu, wish to issue a warning on worrisome information that has reached the global family of IPOB in Biafraland, and particularly warn those collecting money from politicians under the name of ESN to stop.
“We remain adamant that no politician, businessman or religious leader should for any reason give money to anyone using the name of ESN security entity without going through the proper channels. We encourage our people to report anyone posing as IPOB–ESN and using any trick to collect money from any IPOB family. Anyone who gives money to such criminals could be unknowingly funding criminal activities against our country and our people.
“We want our people to know that the IPOB leadership has never allowed anyone to threaten and trick our people into supporting ESN.
Therefore, such individuals or groups are frauds and should be considered and treated as such.
The ESN was established to protect our country from Fulani terrorists and is funded by selfless contributions from IPOB family members and others who want to protect our country.
All politicians in the Eastern States should stop promoting criminal acts and focus on liberating the country given to them by the Almighty God Chukwu Okike Abiama who is in charge and in heaven.
“Every individual, body, organization that wants to support the security of our country should follow the right ways.
There is only one ESN under IPOB with a disciplined and powerful leadership known worldwide as the Directorate of State whose structural leadership pattern is “command and control.”
“Our people should be aware that there is a great battle ahead against the Fulani government and the terrorists and we should wait for them because they will come,” he said.
“If you donated money to support IPOB/ESN through anyone with good intentions and IPOB–DOS was not informed of such shenanigans, you have been deceived.
“If you paid money and were not recognized and appreciated by the top hierarchy of IPOB, please demand a refund if it was given with good intentions or consider it a bad deal if it was intended to thwart the struggle for the restoration of Biafra.
“Our stern warning goes to those who defraud and extort people of their hard earned money with IPOB or ESN on their lips, such people must desist from such criminal activities immediately or face the wrath of IPOB.
There is no consultant, taskforce, middlemen or group mandated by the State Directorate of the Indigenous People of Biafra to do fundraising.
Every time we decide to use other channels to raise funds for the ESN volunteers in their continuous efforts to secure our land, this information is always made available to the public and then announced through Radio Biafra. At the moment, the only channel of financial support for the ESN is the IPOB leadership (the DOS).
Those who really want to support our Homeland Security should contact the IPOB–DOS through the usual channels.
“The IPOB remains whiter than white and whiter than snow, it still prides itself on being the most disciplined global movement, we are intact, formidable, documented, verifiable, transparent among family members, yet we are in a freedom struggle and would never allow anyone to take us for granted. Our sacred name must not be abused as a shield for crime, for that comes at a high price. Criminals and fraudsters are warned to avoid us.
Do not claim to be IPOB if you cannot prove your membership, even if you are Biafrans. We are all Biafrans, but IPOB freedom fighters stand out.”
