The Court of Appeal in Abuja on Tuesday declared Senator Obinna Ogba, representing Ebonyi Central zone, as the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate for the state in 2023.
“The Court of Appeal Abuja has today (Tuesday) ruled in favor of Senator Obinna Ogba.
“Don’t quote me because we are still in the courtroom. But you can inquire and find out for yourself. This is good news for us and shows that the court is still the last hope for the common man.”
Another PDP representative, Elder Fred Udeogu, confirmed the development , adding that the current turn of events will reduce the tension currently being witnessed in the party.
Udeogu said, “Yes, the Court of Appeal has ruled in favor of Senator Obinna Ogba.
“We thank God for this development which shows that there is still hope for us in this country, with the judiciary. It is a well-deserved judgment and we give God the glory,” he said.
Chief Ifeanyi Odii was elected as the party’s governorship candidate during a cancelled primary election held in the state between May 28 and 29, 2022.
However, in the rescheduled primaries held on June 4 and 5, 2022, Senator Ogba emerged victorious.
Odii, however, had approached a Federal High Court in Abakaliki and rejected Ogba’s “candidacy,” after which Ogba had to approach the Court of Appeal.
