The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says it has not published a timetable or list of activities in preparation for the 2023 general elections.
Its national press secretary, Debo Ologunagba, said Sunday in Abuja that the purported timetable or schedule of activities already circulating on social media was fake.
“The attention of the National Working Committee has been drawn to a fake election schedule circulating on social media,” he said.
“It was allegedly signed by the National Organizing Secretary of the PDP, Umar Bature, as the PDP’s schedule of activities and timetable for the 2023 general elections.
“The PDP clarifies that it has not published any timetable or any schedule of activities for the 2022/2023 election year.
“The National Organizing Secretary has not signed and released any such document.
“For the avoidance of doubt: The PDP is a party to due process.
The PDP will release a schedule and plan of activities for the 2022/2023 election year only after thorough deliberation and approval by the party’s critical and statutory bodies at the appropriate levels,” he said.
He added that the fake schedule is the work of malicious elements trying to create confusion, mislead the public and distract the party at this critical time.
In due course, the official schedule and activities of the PDP will be officially released through our party’s official communication channels and not on social media,” Ologunagba stressed.
