Arise TV presenter, Rufai Oseni, has apologized to the Lagos State Government for driving in the lane designated for Bus Rapid Transit (BRT).
“I cannot and will not claim to know everything”. – Oseni
In a morning broadcast on Wednesday, August 03, 2022, Rufai apologized to friends, family and colleagues for the incident, saying he did not know everything.
Rufai Oseni’s apology: “As many of you know, I was in the news for a few days for the wrong reasons. This has led to an unnecessary distraction for my friends, family, members of the public and for all my colleagues here at Arise News Channel.
“I would therefore like to apologize to all concerned for the incident with the police when I was pulled over for driving in a bus lane.
“I cannot and will not claim to know everything”.
The state government had promised to take disciplinary action against the television presenter for violating Lagos traffic rules.
What Rufai Oseni said earlier: Rufai had complained in a tweet on his official page that a police officer pointed a gun at him for using the BRT lane.
Gboyega Akosile, the press secretary to Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, had in a statement on his Twitter account described the broadcast journalist as a lawbreaker and said he (Rufai) had already admitted his offense to the police.
Rufai’s action had generated several reactions on social media.
What people think about Rufai Oseni’s offense: while some accused the broadcaster of breaking the law, others felt that the prosecution was politically motivated.
