UTA to construct 2 modern hospitals in FCT, says Country Director

Two modern hospitals are to be built in Abuja by the United Town Agency (UTA), according to its country director Chinyere Amalaha.

Amalaha said in Abuja that the organization would also not only rehabilitate but also equip other elementary school as part of its first series of projects for rural communities in Nigeria.

Addressing the media in Abuja, Amalaha said the organization’s immediate plan was to initiate humanitarian activities in vulnerable rural communities in the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja.

She said UTA is focused on improving access to safe drinking water, quality health care and education for rural communities in the Federal Capital Territory, adding that it is unfortunate and shameful that there are still several rural communities in the Federal Capital Territory of Abuja that are without basic social amenities.

Amalaha pointed out that the choice of sites for these projects is made by the UTA Board in consultation with the FCT Traditional Rulers Council.

She said, “We cannot sit back and leave everything to the government. I would like to briefly mention that the UTA headquarters in Geneva has not given us any money for the projects for now, but they expect us to take the initiative and they will support us later when they have seen evidence of our seriousness and transparency.”

Continuing, Amalaha said, “It is also part of UTA’s work plan to defend the political rights of Nigerian voters in the 2023 general elections by ensuring that their votes count. Free, fair and transparent elections are the bulwark of democratic government.”

UTA will therefore be constructively involved in the electoral process as an observer. The inalienable right of people to vote and be elected without fear of harassment or interference must be guaranteed. We will work closely with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).”

Expressing her gratitude, Amalaha said this is an opportune moment to express her deep gratitude to the UTA Central Office, especially the beautiful, brilliant and vibrant Secretary General Eya Essif, whose tremendous support, encouragement and facilitation led to her victory in the just concluded election attended by more than 100 countries in Geneva, Switzerland.

“My appointment as UTA President is a clear call to action and a great challenge for Nigeria to join the community of 110 nations to prove that we are truly the giant of Africa by taking the lead in the humanitarian projects, human rights protection, United Nations social development goals and scientific endeavors that are the center of UTA’s interventions in various countries around the world.”
